I Ching Hexagram 40
The hexagram 40 of the I Ching, Release, consists of the Thunder over the Water. It symbolizes a rainstorm where a violent unleashing of forces allows for a general purification. The force and violence of the Thunder are associated to the darkness of the Water, and even though a storm may be a chaotic situation, release will always arrive. The moment marked by release is then that which demands an effort for the emergence of new conditions that are entirely apart from the ancient one.
Quick guide for interpretation
We must work hard to thoroughly finish a situation that has arrived at its end.
