The Basic I Ching Components in Traditional Readings


The I Ching key component is the hexagram. The 64 hexagrams describe the full spectrum of all possible situations. This word is a Western creation which depicts the hexagram as the sum of 6 lines. For convenience, taoist I Ching commentantors divided hexagrams in trigrams, which stand for a set of three lines. The 8 possible trigrams may be helpful, however, it is not allways fully attached to the sense of the original hexagram. More on trigrams...
