I Ching Hexagram 33
The hexagram 33 of the I Ching, Retreat, consists of Sky over the Mountain. The height of the Mountain is enhanced by the Sky which relates its immobility to the inaccessibility of its summit. Retreat means the movement by which we are raised high and kept in a distance that protects us agains whatever may arrive. As this movement is crowned by the Sky, it agrees with its creative principle and may therefore initiate us to new conditions.
Quick guide for interpretation
We must retreat to prepare for a future progress.
