I Ching Hexagram 22
The hexagram 22 of the I Ching, Grace, indicates the role of an important force in society, which, however, does not belong to the order of the essential: that what is called "etiquette". One must understand the relative importance of a force that compensates harshness; however, it can also easily hide what is essential. The trigrams indicate the rapid movement generated by the Fire going up the Mountain, which, despite its brilliance, cannot produce stable results by itself. The hexagram, thus, concerns the balance between form and content, a balance between the necessary formalities and the real content behind conventions.
