I Ching Hexagram 12
The hexagram 12 of the I Ching, Stagnation, is composed of the Sky, at the top, and the Earth, at the bottom. They have opposed directions since the Sky goes higher and the Earth goes deeper. Accordingly, the hexagram represents a situation of tension between powerful elements. Their movements are external to each other because Sky and Earth are driven apart and, thus, this hexagram indicates a situation marked by a stagnant disharmony in which nothing greater can be achieved.
